University of melbourne network of schools (umnos)

Mordialloc Beach Primary School was accepted into the very prestigious UMNOS Program in 2017.  Only 20 schools in the State access this program and are provided with the very latest professional learning with the elite of Education in Melbourne including John Hattie, Patrick Griffin, Misty Adoniou, John Munro and Dianne Snowball to name a few.

UMNOS core aim is to improve learning for all our students. We believe every child can learn more than we have ever imagined.

We are a learning organisation, collaborating in partnership with the University of Melbourne. We learn and change our practice through collective effort, challenge and reflection. We determine how we work and what we work on, informed by the rich evidence base about high-impact, educational leadership and teaching practice.

We draw our learning from:-
  • The evidence of what our students make, do, say and write
  • Our own and teach other’s experience
  • Expert input that confirms, stimulates or challenges our beliefs and practices
  • International research and evidence.

We are explicit in our commitment to improving our collective and individual schools’ capacity for:
  • Engaging and empowering students as highly capable learners
  • Building a culture of high expectations, transparency and rigour
  • Fostering leaders, skilled in managing change, who drive a clear, shared instructional focus without distractions.
  • Deepening teacher knowledge, skills and capabilities
  • Utilising assessment and feedback and analysing evidence.

We measure our impact to improve our practice.
